What is VACTERL Association

Limb

 Limb abnormalities affect around 50% of  babies born with VACTERL  Association. [₁]

Upper limb malformations seen in  VACTERL Association

  • Absence of the radius 

  • Shortened forearm

  • Shortened humerus or ulna

  • Missing fingers

  • Fused fingers

  • Curved fingers

  • Absent or underdeveloped thumb

  • Presence of an extra bone in the thumb 

  • Extra digits

  • Webbing of the digits

  • Abnormal fusion of the two forearm bones 

Lower Limb malformations seen in VACTERL Association [₂]

  • Clubfoot

  • Hypoplasia of the great toe and tibia.​
